Measles is a leading cause of childhood mortality among the vaccine preventable diseases in India. With the current outset of the measles outbreak in Maharashtra, India, we witnessed many active cases & few fatalities. The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the limitations of resources at the immunization drive, thereby putting a higher emphasis on the need for the same to reach closer to the doorstep of the underserved.
Jivika Healthcare partnered with Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), BMC Software and Alkyl Amines Chemicals Limited outfitted mobile vaccination units to deliver measles and other routine immunisation vaccines with the aim to strengthen its coverage in Maharashtra. The VaccineOnWheels service by Jivika Healthcare carries vaccines and vaccinators near the communities to deliver safe vaccinations.
Jivika Healthcare’s VaccineOnWheels is equipped with the capability and readiness to introduce mobile units in more areas within India to support the nation in vaccinating children outside hospital setups. With the support of various funding
partners, Jivika Healthcare plans to introduce more mobile vaccination units that can be deployed in different cities and states of India.
